Cayenne-colored sands and the endless blue Namibian sky over Sossousvlei have hypnotized visitors to this southern African country. Tours take travelers hiking over constantly-shifting dunes, some over 1,000 feet high.

The dunes are part of the 12,000 square miles of the Namib desert within the country's borders and one of the oldest and driest ecosystems on the planet.
