Lopez Lomong is originally from Sudan. He was kidnapped by a militia faction in order to be turned into a child soldier. He escaped along with other children to a refugee camp in Kenya thus becoming known as one of the "lost boys''. Lomong will carry the United States flag in the opening ceremony of the 2008 Olympic Games.
