Charles A. Minor comes from Sinoe county in Liberia. He is a graduate of the University of Liberia in Monrovia. He studied Economics and Industrial Relations at Michigan State University and also earned graduate degrees in Development and Human Resource Economics and in Management. After completing his studies,he returned to his home country to teach at the University of Monrovia. He has also taught at many academic institutions in Liberia, Ghana and also in the United States.
Afterwards he went into business; he became the Acting Manager of Liberian Produce Marketing Corporation. This corporation had the exclusive rights to export all of Liberia's coffee, cocoa and palm oil products. He served as Vice President of National Housing Bank till 1983 when he left Liberia.
After the military coup of 1980 in Liberia,he became a Consultant for Arthur D. Little (ADL) of Cambridge,Massachusetts from 1985 to 1988. While a consultant for ADL, he implemented a World Bank Industrial Sector Adjustment Credit program for Ghana which involved training Ghanaian bankers and industrialists in enterprise and financial restructuring. After this program was completed,Mr Minor,together with his wife and other Ghanaian colleagues including Mr Yaw Osafo-Maafo,Ghana's Finance Minister,founded a consulting and training company. The company undertook many activities including,the training of young professionals at the African Development Bank and Privatization.
He became Management Development & Human Resource Director of African Management Services Company(AMSCO), a UNDP and IFC special purpose company based in Amsterdam which was mandated to develop Africa's private sector and train African managers. He became the Deputy Managing Director before leaving the company in July 2003. By the time he was appointed to his present position of Ambassador,he had 120 clients in 25 countries.
His Excellency Charles Minor presented his Letter of Credence to President George Bush at the White House on July 15,2004. He is married with three children and two grandchildren.
