Boersen S. Hinneh was born in Harper Maryland County. He is of the Grebo tribe and has two brothers and a sister.

 

He attended elementary school in Maryland and Monrovia, but went into exile due to the civil crisis.

 

He returned to Monrovia after almost a decade and graduated from the Cathedral Catholic High School in 2002. In 2004, he joined other young people at the Don Bosco Youth Center in Matadi Estate, Monrovia in an effort to create awareness on HIV/ AIDS and other STIs.

 

He was trained by the Catholic Church Archdiocesan HIV/ AIDS Program through the Mother Patern College of Health Sciences. After series of trainings, he was recruited by the Catholic Church to serve as its Youth Focal Person for the Archdiocese.

 

He joined the Youth for Human Rights International in 2005 and became its Program Director. He designed, organized and implemented several projects for the local chapter.

 

By the end of 2006, Boersen enrolled at the United Methodist University where he studied Public Administration with a minor in Sociology.

In 2008, he was sent by UNICEF to represent the youth of Liberia at the 15th International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Africa. The conference was held in Senegal, Dakar.

 

Shortly upon his return from Senegal, he contested the presidency in the student’s elections and won overwhelmingly. His era brought significant changes to both the student community and the administration of the university.

 

He graduated in 2010 with a bachelor’s of science degree in Public Administration

 

He is currently the Vice-president for operations of the Private University Student Association.

 

Boersen is a brilliant, dedicated and hardworking young man who believes in the power of young people. He is certain that the growth and development of Liberia depend highly upon the ability of the youth to identify their potentials and explore the right possibilities.
