Organization Details
The Equator Initiative is a partnership of United Nations Development Programme, the UN's global development network, with BrasilConnects, the government of Canada (THE ONLY GOVERNMENT PARTNER), International Development Research Centre (IDRC), IUCN - The World Conservation Union, The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Television Trust for the Environment (TVE), and the United Nations Foundation. The Equator Initiative focuses on the region between 23.5 degrees north and south of the Equator, the zone with the greatest concentrations of both human poverty and biodiversity wealth. The Equator Initiative is a global movement committed to identifying and supporting innovative community partnerships that reduce poverty through the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity.
