Cesária Évora is a Cape Verdian musician. Her preference to perform without shoes has hearned her the nickname the "barefoot diva." She sings in the morna style, a blues-y genre from Cape Verde which combines local creole lyrics with instruments such as the cavaquinho, clarinet, accordian, piano, violin and guitar.
