This will be the second olympic appearance for Kipchoge. He will be running the 5000m event that earned him a bronze in the 2005 Olympic games in Athens.

He won gold in men's 5000m at the 2003 World Championships in Paris. His time at the Brussels Grand Prix earlier this year ranked him third in the world.
