Zulei, a 14-year-old Fulani girl about to be married, is the focus of this program, which documents the life of a people whose ancestors were nomads and whose customs and habits have changed very little across millennia. The origins of the Fulani are shrouded in history; the present seems barely brushed by the shadow of the 20th century—or the 19th, or colonialism, or any event at all outside the routine struggle for survival and the joys and fears and sorrows of human existence.
