The Marche Centrale is kept very clean. Buy fruit and vegetables (especially dates and figs) for less than a dollar by the kilo or half kilo. Bakers offer bread of many varieties, and honey, cheese, and spicy harissa are also available. Search the meat section for the best prices. Dozens of kinds of domestically grown olives are sold. Vendors don't hesitate to offer free samples of their produce and will reward frequent customers.
