Samuel J. Askie is a Liberian born on September 22, 1976 in the City of Arthington, Montserrado County. His parents are Mr. Peter N. Askie and Madam Eva Edith Hill.

 

His father, the late Peter Askie, was a farmer and his mother was for many years an employee at the National Archives Center in Monrovia prior to her departure in 1995 to the United States of America.

 

Samuel started his primary education in Arthington City at the Carter Foundation Primary School and subsequently the Arthington Public School.

 

In 1978, he travelled along with his mother to Tubmanburg City in Bomi County. He stayed there and enrolled at the Samuel D. Hill Elementary and Junior High School. After a year, he transferred to the H.Q Taylor Elementary & Junior High School.

 

In 1987, he completed his junior high education. After completion, he enrolled at the C.H Deweh Central High School in Tubmanburg until he was promoted to the 12th grade. Due to the Civil Crisis in Liberia, he migrated to Monrovia and entered the Haywood Mission School on the Old Road.

 

Samuel graduated from the Haywood Mission School in 1993 and in 1995 he enrolled at the College of West Africa Junior College in the Business Program. He graduated in 1998 with an Associate Degree in Accounting. Presently, he is a student of the United Methodist University studying Management and Sociology while serving as an Administrative Technician to the Assistant Minister, Ekema Witherspoon, at the Ministry of Internal affairs.

 

Mr. Samuel J. Askie is a Christian and a member of the Charlotte Memorial United Methodist Church in the Township of New Georgia, Montserrado County.

 

He worked from 1998 to 2005 as a Registrar for the Few Diagnostic Clinic in Sinkor, Monrovia. He also worked as Operation Assistant with the Cape Maritime Agency on Bushrod Island.

 

Mr. Samuel J. Askie dedicates this marathon to his partner, Miss. Miatta K. Zogbo for the level of encouragement, support and pieces of advice that she gives him.

 

He hopes to emerge victorious come August 28, 2011 in the BHP Billiton sponsored marathon.
