Description of Work:
Daniel Rikichi Kajang serves as the procurement specialist/manager for the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) in Abuja, Nigeria. In that role, he mobilizes procurement staff at both national and state levels to implement procurement services in the fight against HIV/AIDS and other community development services in Nigeria, focusing on promoting transparent procurement practices, modernizing public expenditure and management systems, especially on supply chains, and product procurement. Dr. Kajang began his employment in the Kaduna State Civil Service in December, 1980, and rose to the rank of assistant director, Health/Chief Lecturer GL15 in 2000. Two high points in a public service and procurement career that has spanned a period of 28 years are: from 1989/1993–1999, Dr. Kajang was appointed as the procurement officer of the Kaduna State World Bank-assisted Health Systems Fund Project; and between December 2000 and July 2001, he served as the procurement consultant with the World Bank Country Office in Nigeria. He holds bachelor’s degrees in EVH and epidemiology, and theology-pastoral studies, a master’s degree in medical sociology, and a PhD in health systems management.
