King Sunny Ade is a popular performer of Nigerian Jùjú music. His rise to superstar status began in the 1970s. Ade and his 20-piece band the African Beats weave an infectious blend of electric guitars, synthesizers and multi-layered percussion. Adé, in fact, was said to be the first to introduce the pedal steel guitar to Nigerian pop music after becoming a fan of American country/western tunes.
