African Youth Charter recognises youth as people between the ages of 15 and 35
OAYouth will be recognised as the sole umbrella organisation of all independent minded African youths. It stands parallel to African Union, representing African Youths on any summits where policies affecting the continent are convened.
OAYouth is the perennial network of Africa's young people, encouraging common thinking and understanding on issues affecting the continent. Furthermore, the organisation encourages unity of non-partisan African people committed to democratic thinking and radical change in matters of governance and to vocally oppose the culture of dictatorships in Africa.

We realize that our destinies as African young people are shared. We cannot inherit a continent savaged by HIV/AIDS, conflict, dictatorship, and racism, lack of basic health, jobs and education. We confront these issues through bold and intelligent advocacy, volunteering to do good in our communities and through working with organizations like UN, Care, World Vision, etc. We seek to be involved in policy making on any summits of World and continental bodies, where we shall represent the youth of Africa.

Our time is now. We can work together, as united youth, to get the best of what Africa can offer, but we at least have to take the first step. This is it.
