Organization Details
The International Alliance of Women, which was founded in Berlin in 1904 as the International Woman Suffrage Alliance, has sought to achieve the right to vote for women in the Gulf and Arab states. Priority areas for action include civil and political rights, education for all, elimination of violence against women, and poverty alleviation. Dr. Horeya Megahed is Vice President of the International Alliance of Women. She has taught political science at Cairo University and at Indiana University in the United States and is the author of several books, most recently Islam in Africa & The Actuality of Christianity & Traditional Religion.
