Organization Details
OATUU, founded in 1973, has 74 affiliates in 52 African countries, representing virtually all trade union tendencies in Africa with a total membership of some 25 million. It has also facilitated the creation of sub-regional trade union organizations. Its objectives include coordination of trade union activities; defense of union and other human rights; and the promotion of African unity, economic integration, and social and economic justice. Its headquarters is in Accra, Ghana.
