Organization Details
Founded in 1946, the organization works internationally, operating in many African countries. Among its projects are microfinance, microentrepreneur programs. Its Credit with Education program provides poor women with two flexible resources - money and information. Operating in rural regions the Credit with Education program provides self-employed women with loans - on average $70 - to build businesses and earn income. As they repay their loans, at weekly meetings, the women learn about health, nutrition, family planning and business management skills in a group-based and supportive environment. Impact studies show that women and their families are healthier, better fed and have more money just one year after joining the program.
