Talk Mogadishu: Media Under Fire (2003)
2003. 50 Minutes. Somalia. Directed by Judy Jackson. Documentary
Documents the operation of the independent, non-partisan radio and television station, HornAfrik, in the Somali capitol of Mogadishu. The station's very popular talk shows allow marginalized groups, such as human rights advocates and women's groups, to speak out and be heard. HornAfrik is sometimes attacked by warlords angered by the show's content and the station requires armed guards 24 hours a day.
