What researchers call the world's most advanced malaria vaccine candidate is being tested in 11 places in seven African countries.

I wish to submit that drugs, vaccines and bednets alone will not help the malaria situation in Africa and other high risk areas of the world. Reasons for this include the emergence of resistance, vaccine failure and bednet inavailability where needed or inappropriate use of same.

I believe that vector control is the ultimate key. Governments must adopt community planning policies that focus on the construction of "vector proof" houses and the elimination of vector breeding sites. The improvement of living conditions for the masses will do more to reduce the incidence of malaria than anything done to date.
