Yasir Arman belongs to Ja'alin an Arab tribe in north of Sudan , he was born in Tabat City in Al Jazirah (state) and joined SPLM between 1983 and 1986 and he became a very close to the former leader John Garang and appointed as a military leader and Spokesman .

Yasir Said Arman (born October 30 1961, Al Jazirah (state)) is a Deputy Secretary-General for the north sector and the Spokesman of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement and a candidate for the sudanese presidential elections,2010 which will be held in Sudan on April 2010.

Arman is one of the leaders who contribute to draft and sign the Naivasha agreement of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement that ended the war between the north and southern Sudan of sudan in 2005. He is the head of the SPLM quota for the parliamentary faction.

Yasir Arman joined Sudanese Communist Party in the mid-seventies, then he moved to SPLM,he was accused in death of two students with Islamic affiliation in Cairo University branch in Khartoum which became the Neelain University, latter on the case was dropped by the law and he was released.

Yasir Arman, was arrested in December 2009 with other leaders after attempting to conduct a demonstration in Khartoum to protest against a legislation passed in the parliament of Sudan.
