Dr. Edward Ayensu is President of the Pan-African Union for Science and Technology, Chairman of Edward S. Ayensu, Ltd., and founding Chairman of the African Biosciences Network.
Dr. Edward Ayensu is President of the Pan-African Union for Science and Technology, Chairman of Edward S. Ayensu, Ltd., and founding Chairman of the African Biosciences Network.. He is also a member of the United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization's International Advisory Boardon Global Scientific Communications. Dr. Ayensu has also served as senior adviser to the President of the African Development Bank and as Bank's Director for Central Projects. He was formerly Director and Senior Scientist at the Smithsonian Institution, Visiting Fellow of Wolfson College, Oxford University, and a Distinguished Professor of the University of Ghana. He has written several reports on various aspects of the extractive industries and has also published a book on this subkect titled Ashanti Gold (2007).
He is twice the recipient of the Ghana National Science Award, the recipient of the Outstanding Service Award of the United States National Museum of Natural History, the Smithsonian Institution, the recipient of the Outstanding Statesman Award in Ghana during the Millennium Celebrations and also the recipient of the 2004 Medal for the Biological Sciences by the TWAS Academy of Sciences for the Developing World.
