Dr Nomfundo Ngwenya leads the South African Foreign Policy and African Drivers Programme of the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA).
Dr Ngwenya, a doctoral graduate from the University of Cambridge also holds master's degrees from the University of Stellenbosch and the London School of Economics. She spent two years as a Research Analyst at the National Intelligence Agency before taking up her studies in the UK.
The SAIIA programme she heads seeks to unpack South Africa’s multilateral and bilateral foreign policy. The programme will research SA’s emerging development, security and peace-building policies as well as expand on research pertaining to South Africa’s relations with key African states (like Kenya, Nigeria, Angola, the DRC, Senegal, Egypt and Botswana).
