Mr. Boakai is a graduate of Kansas State University in the United States. He was born to illiterate parents as one of six boys. Mr. Boakai extended his studies in the United States through a USAID grant. He too has had three boys with his wife Kartumu Boakai. After serving as Agriculture Minister in 1985, he served as a consultant to the World Bank.
