The Institut Fondamental d'Afrique Noir is highly acclaimed as one of the oldest and best organized museums in West Africa. Historically, the museum was well promoted, beginning with the support of Leopold Senghor, Senegal's first president.
There are exhibits about traditions and history throughout Mali, Guinea-Bissau, Benin, Gambia, and other countries as well as Senegal. The art displays are astounding and this is a must-see for anyone passing through Dakar.
Admission is under a dollar.
