Find a guide with a sturdy car or jeep and travel along the lower ridge to Mt. Cameroon to search for fresh lava flows. It just erupted in 1999, and has erupted five other times in the last century. Annually there is a race in which thousands climb to the top. This is known as the highest peak in West Africa and is a major attraction in Cameroon.
