     Oluchi,as she is famously known,was born in Lagos,Nigeria on 1 August,1980 to a civil servant father and a mother who was a nurse. She has three siblings; a sister and two brothers. The family lived in Surulere,a low-income area in Lagos. In high school, Oluchi was a good student and she enjoyed playing tennis and ping pong.

    As a child, Oluchi had been very thin and lacked much self-confidence. However,in 1998, a friend encouraged her to participate in the M-net Face of Africa preliminary screening in Victoria Island,Lagos. She sailed through and went on to compete in the M-net Face of Africa modelling competition. At age 17,Oluchi won the first edition of the M-net Face of Africa and became known as the first 'face of Africa'.

     She was awarded a 3-year contract with Elite Model Management,which had collaborated with the South African subscription television channel to organize the competition. And thus begun her life as a super model who would be in high demand.


    Oluchi has been on the covers of  Italian Vogue, Elle and other magazines. She has also modelled clothes for designers Chanel,Armani,John Galliano and Christian Dior. She has also been featured in Allure,Marie Claire and other international editions of Vogue magazine. After her 3-year contract with Elite Model Management came to an end,she signed on with DNA Model Management.

    Aside her modelling career,she has also tried to do some work to help society. She devotes her time and her image to NGOs like LEAP Africa and NIPRO. Also,she tries to be a role model to young girls aspiring to become models.

    In August 2005 Oluchi married the Italian fashion designer Luca Orlandi. In 2007 the couple had a son who they named Ugochukwu.
