Ivo Ngome is a senior consultant in social science research methods. He has been involved in several projects in sub-Sahara Africa ranging from measuring social impacts of protected areas, to studying agro-ecological systems and comparing rural and urban attitudes towards environmental conservation in the context of material poverty. He is the founder and manager of ResearchTour Cameroon, Cameroon’s biggest and fastest growing conference management, translation and interpretation, expedition and research support organisation.
An expert in GIS and Informatics, Ivo Ngome has served as consultant for some of the UK’s largest conservation organisations including the United Nations Environment Programme – World Conservation Monitoring Centre in Cambridge (where he was research scholar), the British Antarctic Survey, and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.
Ivo is also an environmental sociologist. Since 2003 he has devoted a large percentage of his time in conducting research in the area of environmental conservation and sustainable development. He has participated in field research in all ten of Cameroon’s regions on projects ranging from exploring the social impacts of the Chad-Cameroon Oil Pipeline to assessing management effectiveness and social impacts of protected areas. Ivo obtained his masters degree in environment and development geography from the University of Buea in 2006. He has several professional certificates in areas including ArcGIS, Microfinance, Project Management and Environmental Law.
